After last month’s incident (my) dad suffered yet another stroke, this time his right brain was affected making the left body paralyzed(hemiplegia) last Friday. I wasn’t shocked but my love for my old-man had me weaken. Seeing my living hero in bed ... because what I am now and what I have become I got a lot from him (my wife had me fine tuned to be a much better person). I pray that he recovers despite in his 70s, that it's my time to return the favor, that my family must have all the patience in getting him up, walk by his side and all the love he needs 24/7.

Lord keep us stronger.

I was given a task by my bosses to come up in a day with a simple site that pays tribute to the late Senator Raul S. Roco, I was in high spirits because I believe and has deep admiration for the late Senator, for me he is the best Bicolano in modern politics, the most ready President this country never had. Some would thought of being paslo sa poder when he rejected the VP spot when it was a sure thing during the 2004 National Elections but knowing Roco who makes unpopular decisions to what he believed is right and despite never having a political machinery he proceeded with his mission (in trying to turn this country around).

Just few regrets after I felt could have done more given the time, but my bosses … who think coming up with a design and actual work looks just like a snap off their fingers.

What's wrong with us? We’ve been influenced by western culture in an eerie-way and the way I looked at is (as if) we’re damn proud of the situation. Media (ABS-CBN + GMA) are glamorizing it at the expense of ratings and not even concerned if it would backfire to the whole country. A scoop is a scoop ... geez! where are we going Pinoy? My wife’s right, and Sunday was a good day. An opportune time as CNN featured the world television premiere of the Oscar-nominated “Autism is a World” , documentary written by Sue Robin, a 29 y/o non-verbal autistic (IQ 133) who’s a junior college at Whittier College. I felt her frustration and depression in life considering that I have one of my own – it made we weep and bleed from within. Despite everything Sue is still a very lucky young woman because of all the support she’s having.

Wept, because as a parent of an autistic son feel the everyday struggle that she had to endure both from her own world and other vicious world. Her world, which solitude is her best friend, but at times her worst enemy too. The other vicious world, because most of them doesn’t care or seems to understand the many Sue’s out there.

Bled, I bleed for my son Hajj because he may never have the opportunity and the support Sue Robin enjoys. As always, afraid for his future and no matter how you accept their conditions there will always be guilt and fear that you can never give them their dreams while the rest of the world are having the times of their life.

Rumors as well as confirmations of shopping malls continue to circulate in my city, there’s LandCo with her Pacific Mall, some says a wealthy Nagueño is dealing with Gokongwei’s for a Robinson’s franchise (construction in progress) and that famous Shoemart (SM) is contemplating the city as possible site (a longshot, I guess) since opening up a Banco de Oro recently. What do I see? I see a meager job opportunities but I also see garbage and the never ending issue on waste disposal.

We won again!! wow … the Naga City i-governance may well be the most awarded program yet conceived by an LGU in the country ( Philippines ). Get this, the program was conferred with two(2) national awards (2004 Galing Pook Awards and the National Computer Center as the overall best LGU website), also voted by the AIJC and the UNESCO Commission as the best city website. Three(3) international awards came from various branches of the United Nations -- the 2003 Cybercity Award (UN-TUGI), 2004 Public Service Awards (UNPAN) and just came in (last week) from UN Habitat and the Municipality of Dubai for its best practices award.

Speechless? nahhh!! Awards ... awards does it make me proud? YES as a Nagueño. But whattabout the people behind such a prestigious award? I have been here for 5 years and being part of what you may call an A-team doesn't make any difference at all – I am still a utility worker (earning approx US$100/month) and despite efforts neither have I (nor the rest of the team for that matter) been genuinelly recognized. Feel that (the system) is sucking all my aspirations, draining my energy as well as my raw ideas ... for what? for whom? what if the river runs dry? Who's to blame? … Roger Rabbit? Sad to say I probably will be crawling to a bottomless pit for the remainder of my career without a “white horse” to ride on … we'll as they say in government hope for the best and expect for the worst. a++ japanese film

Carabz had me borrowed his 7 Samurai DVD (bootleg) and while watching I was amaze how good the movie were made! A 50-year old movie by the late Akira Kurosawa with Toshiro Mifune as lead actor --- can't believe it! At first my wife was hesitant but it made her glued ... never a dull moment despite being japanase with very little translation (subtitle). An all-in-one movie much much much better than its US cowboy-version " Magnificent 7". An A-grade movie with very little flaws (just thinking how dumm the bandits were just like the American Indians in western film). I enjoyed it specially seeing the other lead (don't know the name) who can't seem to stop entertaining with his ADHD-style character.

crime-drama on primetime tv

CBS and Bruckheimer seems to have founda niche on forensic science in primetime TV with not one but three CSIs, it would not be too obvious if one would ask despite the similarities in terms of plot who shall emerge as the best crime drama.

When will writer run out of plot? How many seasons will the show run? The original CSI: Las Vegas is currently the top-rater (Season 5), they made sure that lead characters have their differences in between them. Gil Grissom (Petersen) is the nerdy and very poetic type; Horatio Caine (Caruso) is the tough-guy and protective kind; Mac Taylor (Sinise) I feel is the most serious among the three. Character similarities? They’re single and unattached, Sinise character lost his wife in 911 bombing.

What is obvious is the woman behind the man, they have three powerful women that can steal the scene from anyone. But my best CSI would still be ... Grissom, I like the chemistry. I like him being nerdy, emotionally cold and quite amusing when he opens his mouth with his Shakespearean /// CSI:NY has just been released in Asia (with two episodes to date) but I think I will enjoy it more than CSI:Miami
